WELCOME 歡迎
The Creel Center for Chinese Paleography of the University of Chicago and the Centre for the Study of Bamboo and Silk Manuscripts of Wuhan University were both established in the same year, 2006. In the years since, the two centers have developed a very close and friendly working relationship, holding conferences together, hosting student and faculty exchanges, and generously sharing each other’s research results. In 2012, Wuhan University created a new initiative—the “Overseas Academic Week of Wuhan University”—to showcase to the international community one of its most distinguished academic units. This year, the second year of this initiative, the university has selected the Centre for the Study of Bamboo and Silk Manuscripts to be featured in an international conference held somewhere outside of China. The Centre has in turn asked the Creel Center for Chinese Paleography to host the conference at the University of Chicago. It is our honor to host our colleagues from Wuhan, as well as scholars from eleven different countries as well as Taiwan and Hong Kong. As you will see from the following schedule, we have three very full days of scholarly presentations planned for you, and we very much hope you will enjoy your stay in Chicago.
